A RECORD number of delegates attended the EMIS National User Group (NUG) annual conference in Bristol.
The event, which has been hailed as the group’s most successful in years, also saw a record number of new member registrations and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both sponsors and exhibitors.
The EMIS NUG is a non-profit group that works to improve the use of healthcare information. It is the bridge between general practice and Optum – the company that supplies electronic patient record systems and software used in primary care. The NUG helps users to get the best out of their system, by providing training, educational material and a range of other benefits for its members.
NUG chair Rachael Lankshear said: “The annual conference is a key occasion on the EMIS NUG calendar and this year’s event was the most successful I can remember.
“We’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes since our last conference in 2024 to develop both the NUG model and conference format to ensure it is fit for purpose and in line with what our members want and need.
“Missing a year for an established conference is always a risk but the success of our 2026 conference proves that taking the time to shape the organisation and conference in line with feedback from members, sponsors and exhibitors was the right decision.
“One of the key contributing factors to its success was to work jointly with Optum to deliver the conference.
“Not only did this mean seamless planning and delivery of the conference but it has also strengthened working relationships between Optum and the NUG and as a team we are already looking forward to next year’s event.
“Special thanks to newly appointed NUG Manager Lauren Veale, who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this year’s conference.
“We’d also like to thank all of our speakers and exhibitors for supporting this year’s event, and of course our members for attending. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.”
From the latest clinical developments and training sessions to practical support and best practice case studies, members were able to take away a wealth of knowledge and learning to benefit their practices.
The day was completed with the annual EMIS NUG gala dinner and Awards presented by TV personality Dr Dawn Harper – this event also saw a record number of award nominations and attendees. See our socials for the winners!
