EMIS Nug Conference Announces Inaugural Awards and Best Speaker Line Up Yet!

EMIS NUG have announced an exciting addition to their forthcoming 31st annual conference.

The showpiece event, which takes place on Friday, September 13th at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre (Rep), will culminate in the inaugural NUG Awards Ceremony.

The awards have been launched to celebrate excellence in the industry and will be presented by a celebrity host. They take place alongside a three-course dinner and entertainment to round off a packed conference schedule, which has been condensed into one day for the first time.

The EMIS Nug conference is geared towards informing GP practice staff of the latest innovations and news relating to EMIS. It features expert speakers, including EMIS representatives, exhibitors and bespoke workshops.

This year it includes the presentation of 12 awards, which recognise the innovative work of individuals and organisations who have helped the EMIS system improve patient care. This might be through telephony solutions, partner products or efficiency improvements to the EMIS system.

The award categories and nomination forms will be available on the EMIS NUG website when entries open. Entries close on August 16th and finalists will be announced the week commencing August 19th.

The evening before the conference, attendees have the chance to connect with other industry professionals over drinks and light dinner at a networking event. This takes place at Birmingham’s science museum, Thinktank.

EMIS NUG chair Rachael Lankshear said: “Once again, the annual conference will provide NUG members with the opportunity to speak to EMIS experts face to face to discover all the latest innovations and insights from the platform.

“There will be over 20 inspirational speakers and plethora of industry exhibitors sharing their knowledge, attendees will learn ways to work smarter to improve patient care. You can expect to speak to and hear from experts at renowned organisations including EMIS, Optum, Sutton PCN, EduNug, EMIS-X, Manchester Centre for Health and Psychology, Viaduct Care and more!”

This year’s venue – the Birmingham Rep – is conveniently located in the centre of the city, just ten minutes’ walk from Birmingham New Street Station and a ten-minute drive from the M5, M6 and M42 motorways.

There are ticket packages available for NUG members and non-members. These range from the full package (two nights’ accommodation, conference, networking event and awards evening) to a conference-only pass.

For more details and to book your pass, go to the conference page of the EMIS NUG website.

The NUG have also launched a ‘duo deal’ which enables attendees to buy one pass and get a second half price. This is following feedback to make the event accessible to a wider range of healthcare professionals. The breakdown of last year’s event was healthcare administration professionals – 50%, practice managers – 23% and clinicians – 26%.

EMIS NUG is the bridge between general practice and EMIS – the company that supplies electronic patient record systems and software used in primary care.

The NUG supports EMIS users to get the best out of their system, by providing training, educational material and a range of other benefits for its members.
